The world seems to shrink when you fly in an ultra long-range private jet. Contemporary long-range private jet charters can cover long itineraries, without requiring refueling, thereby reducing travel times. You can charter a private jet for almost all conceivable destinations, many of which are not covered by commercial airlines. Through this blog post, we look at the top five long-range private jets. As far as private jet charter rates and purchase prices are concerned, you can talk to one of our aviation consultants to get the latest figures.
1. Bombardier Global 8000
The Bombardier 8000, expected to launch by 2017, has the capability to fly 7,900 nautical miles or 14,631 km nonstop, at a cruise speed of mach 0.85. That means you can travel nonstop from Hong Kong to New York, Sydney to Los Angeles, and other places within hours. The Bombardier 8000 is built with a payload capacity of 5,700 lbs and seats for 13 passengers. It produces 2,230 more lbf of thrust than an average long-range large private jet.
2. Gulfstream G650ER
Gulfstream Aerospace introduced the G650ER as an extended-range version of the G650. Capable of carrying 4,000 pounds of more fuel compared to its predecessor, the private jet offers a maximum flying range of 7,500 nautical miles, which is 500 nautical miles more than the G650. The ultra-long range jet can seat up to a maximum of 19 passengers, making it an ideal private charter for those who travel in larger groups. The G650ER has a ceiling range of 51,000 ft and a maximum speed of approximately 710 mph.
3. Bombardier Global 7000
The Bombardier 7000, expected to hit the market by 2018, takes the third place in the list for its remarkable range of 7,300 nautical miles. The ultra long-range private jet offers a 20 percent larger cabin than Bombardier’s other models in the same category, making it an ideal package for people who are looking for a spacious private jet. Propelled by the next-generation General Electric Passport 20 16,500 lbf (73 kN) thrust engine, the Bombardier 7000 can cruise at 690 mph and operate at 51,000 ft.
4. Gulfstream G650
The Gulfstream G650 is the first-of-its-kind – the biggest, fastest, and the largest – in the league of large-cabin long-range private jets. Thanks to its generous fuel capacity of 6,600 gal, the jet allows you to cover 7,000 nautical miles, non-stop. In comparison to the upcoming Bombardier 8000, it can accommodate six more passengers and 800 more pounds of payload, with the total capacity being 6,500 lbs.
5. Gulfstream G550
The G500 was introduced by Gulfstream Aerospace as an upgrade to the Gulfstream V in 2003. It boasts better aerodynamics, engines, and the Honeywell Advanced Flight Deck Display Suite for improved operational capabilities. Powered with twin Rolls-Royce BR710 C4-11 engines, the jet offers a range of 6,750 nautical miles. That means you can fly from Shanghai to Los Angeles or New York to Dubai nonstop, within hours. The G550 can operate out of short-field, high-altitude airports, and seats up to 19 passengers.
